The ferry embarked on the Batam terminal and we hopped on another ferry. Then in the middle of nowhere, we boarded the LeisureWorld cruise...
Sure, I looked happy. Keyword: LOOKED
In the words of Lou quoting Andy in Little Britain, the cruise 'had a maudlin quality to it, rendering unsuitable for a holiday destination'.
And that pretty sums up what I thought of the bloody cruise.
Stepping in, it instantly hits you how claustrophobic the place was. It was quite dark and gloomy. And it definitely looked as though the cruise got distastefully sucked right out of the 80's and then haphazardly spat out onto the Indon waters.
Apparently, my whole interpretation was wrong. I didn't got no balls snapping shots of random people, but what I got does just fine. Illustrates really well how off I was in interpreting the cruise idea.
Now you see how terribly off I was... I looked like a complete jackass.
Turns out, as much as a cruise it was, it was more 'casino' than 'resort'. MUCH TO MY DISMAY.
Frankly, I was bored stiff. Idil suggested I 'take a dip in the pool'.
Surprise, surprise! THERE IS NO POOL. Well, I would have expected a nicer deck with lounge chairs or something too. But got disappointed lah...
So we were at the karaoke instead.
But me, I DO NOT, CAN NOT and WILL NOT sing for nuts. So I just sat and watched lor. And it was barely lunch time. I knew for sure it was going to a looooong trip.
Sheryl was damned happy, obviously. Because she basically CAN sing her lungs off. And so can her friends. I just played Sudoku and camwhored by myself.
Then I realised how foreign and dated the place looked. With all that rattan and—fuck it—a Marlboro star hanging vaingloriously on the ceiling!
Like seriously, what's up with the faux cloudy sky ceiling anyways? I mean, if I really wanted to see the sky, I would just look out because we're on the freaking deck of the cruise?!?!
For the whole day, I just lazed around, wandered everywhere and coming to terms to the fact that it was indeed a really boring cruise.

The Weekend Hiatus 2: The Obligated Cruise—Setting Off
About one week before the cruise itself, my mother called me on the phone and one of the first things she said to me was that we were going on a cruise on Sunday.
Judging by the tone of voice, I more or less knew that as much as I didn't wanna go, I didn't have a choice. I just succumbed to my fate, knowing it will be futile to retaliate.
Then I thought, hey, it's a cruise after all! Gotta be fun! I made up my mind to enjoy myself and not delve so much into the unhappier things.
So came Sunday and I got quite excited. Despite being a one-day-one-night getaway, the trip felt extremely long and arduous.
Early Sunday morning, I decided that I'll dress light and easy, ultra befitting of the whole 'cruise' idea. But apparently my mother didn't fill me in on ALL the details.
When my mother said cruise, I immediately thought plenty of fun and sun. And way ahead, I've decided that I'd love to be alone enjoying myself. I envisaged myself lounging on the deck, basking in the sun, while people splashed around in the pool.
Bloody hell! I swear I kena cheated! 'Cause I was wrong WRONG WRONG!
Boarded the ferry at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. I was bored, so decided to take some photos. Furthermore, the sun was shining so fervently. I couldn't help but feel sunshine-y too!
And I told you I freaking dressed the part right? Look at me and where am I off to? A bloody cruise, I hear you say. Clever!
Yay! The ferry picks up speed and I couldn't wait to get all that wind in my hair. There's just something very sexy and kinky and pleasurable about having wind in the hair. I also especially like it now that I have longer hair, my hair actually kinda flows as the wind beats through it.
Hah! Am I even making sense? Sorry ar, I'm a little high now.
Then some more camwhoring with the natural wind effect.
P.S. I know, retarded and underexposed. But for once, I really don't care.

When You Have Nothing To Do With Your Hands
Woot! Woot! Woot!
I fucking have nails now, dammit!
I haven't bitten my nails, though I have to admit that there were times I SOOOO wanted to mow them down. I'm just glad that I didn't. Now I'm damned proud that I have nails. Imagine living over a decade with no visible nails until now.
It's nice to scratch an itch with nails. I am able to open canned drinks almost by myself now, without foreign help, be it a friend or a coin or a spoon. WIth nails, I can now peel off the scabs of my rollerblading wounds more meticulously. Haha!
It's always a good idea to let my hands wander around spare pieces of paper. 'Wander around spare pieces of paper'. I forgot who came up with the clause. But I know that ever since, it's just been stuck in my head. So instead of saying you like to draw/sketch/doodle, say you like to let your hands wander around spare pieces of paper instead.
Don't you see you it paints a picture in your head?
I remember my very first day at Nanyang Polytechnic: the exercise was to modify simple geometric shapes into something completely different, followed by a group sharing session.
So I had this comet thingy I modified from a circle. The lecturer, Jiunn, pointed it out to the class and most said it was a comet. Just 'comet'. Bit boring, isn't it? So is it a comet? the lecturer asked.
“Well, I was thinking it's more like a falling rock from outer space,”
See? How it paints a picture in your head? Instead of 'comet'. No room for imagination leh...
So anyways, as I 'wandered', I kinda sketched a cat.
I love my ballpoint pen to bits! I really only use my ballpoint pen for anything and everything.
Love the cat though she's without ears. Haha! Well, without ears you could still tell it's a cat what...
Moving on, I've always said that I couldn't stay ten seconds on a Sudoku puzzle. I'm just not a big fan of numbers, much like how I can't really do maths now.
The other day, Idil was asking me what's 18+9. For a moment, I just went blank, unable to come up with an answer. You can say it was a himbo moment lah, huh. The answer's 20-freaking-7, anyways.
Therefore up until a week or so ago, I've never touched or even laid eyes on a Sudoku puzzle. All thanks to Idil who introduced me to the 'fun game'. I had sworn that I could never complete one puzzle by myself. I had firmly believed that I could never be able to stay on it for over ten seconds.
Guess I was wrong. Never speak so surely so early.
Sure, Sudoku is nothing about maths. Just reason and logic. But still, the numbers are intimidating enough, right?
So today, I thought, why not make Sudoku creative? It's kinda drab and boring just filling in squares with numbers, isn't it?
I decided to draw in the numbers instead. Whoever said Sudoku is boring so deserves to eat their words, shit it out, and eat it back in some more.
Oh yes, and that hair today!!!
P.S. Of course I had worn a cap out lah... And the tee reads 'Hates Pink', for your very curious mind. Hiak hiak!...

The Weekend Hiatus: The Pals Meets The Family
I finally got around to posting the final entry for my fabulous last-weekend.
So it's the pals meets the family night. Remember I was playing with Chuan Jie at the park that day? Well, after that, I went off and later met up with Kalis and Hairianto.
It's been such a long time since we got together.
The wondrous thing about us is that we're all separate and distinctive entities, with very strong personal opinions and live life by our own creeds. Yet there's something intangible that gels the three of us together.
So we went to Arab Street/Haji Lane area, had a late lunch at ZamZam.
After that, we just went wandering around the area, taking photographs and all. Kalis was kinda doing her school project at the same time from all the photo-taking.
After that, we went lepak-ing at Haji Lane. Yes, yes, yes! I love Haji Lane!
I had very little photos from there because I was basically just relaxing, lazy to take much photos. I did, however, own a few quirky and 'possessed' shots on Kalis' camera. We talked quite a bit there and didn't quite bear to leave the place.
Because it was the BBQ night of the family chalet, I didn't wanna be MIA, so ended up bringing Kalis and Hairianto to the BBQ as well. Conveniently, I gave them a quick crash course on family background and etiquette(which of course has not much to speak of).
So anyways, as much as I go on about it being a family thing, there wasn't as much family there as I'd hoped.

Cheena And Round
I'm a big fan of first impressions. Not that I live by them, but I just trust first impressions.
Apparently, I find a couple of first impressions people have about me pretty interesting.
First, I am very cheena. Or ching-chong, if I really had to say it loud and clear.
Second, I have a round nose. So special and round that it is enough to spot me out from a crowd.
Nabeh! Nose very round meh?! Round nose cannot ar?!

The Weekend Hiatus: The Fall
So on Thursday afternoon, I met up with a couple of aunts and we went grocery shopping at ShengSiong Supermarket.
Frankly, I don't quite remember what happened on the first day, 'cept that it was a little dreary and I had nothing much to do. Just a bit of unpacking here and there, I guess.
And my biggest regret for this family chalet was that I didn't bring my journal and pen. FUCK!!! Which creative person in the right mind would leave their journal and favourite pen untouched for days on end?!
So later in the day on Thursday, cousin Sheryl arrived, despite feeling unwell. Later in the evening, Sheryl's friends came. They were all in some way or another very musical and loved singing, while I'm way on the other end of the spectrum—no musical inclinations whatsoever and having a potentially odious singing voice.
In fact, I find my talking voice quite repulsive to begin with. That is, until Idil said that my voice was nice. Hee~ I love people with good taste. =D
So anyways, I woke up Friday morning and Sheryl suggested to go walk walk at the beach or something. But then I ended up renting a pair of skates and went skating alone at Pasir Ris Park.
Fifteen minutes into skating, it bloody rained. Luckily it didn't last too long. But I was still worried that I might slip on the wet ground.
It felt really good skating. I haven't skated for the longest time ever! It's the next closest thing (other than walking) to doing sports for me. I had an idea that I should start buffing up a little. Then again, I always had that idea intermittenly throughout the months. Just never quite got around to doing it.
A while back, I interviewed for a job at a sports company specialising in inline skates. I thought it was my big break to having an active lifestyle. And I thought I'd finally get my own pair of blades. But apparently not.
So now, I'm really dying to get a pair of blades. Nothing is going to stop me from skating. Not even a nasty fall:
Quite graphically disturbing right? Tsk, but if you can't take it then too bad for you ar...
So I was skating happily along the park when the skates got stuck together. Instead of keeping calm, I kinda freaked out and before I knew it, I was sprawled on the ground, stinging with pain. You know how sometimes accidents like that become a slow motion moment? Well, not in this case. Everything happened so quickly I didn't have much time to react.
I was pretty calm though. Sure it hurt like hell lah, but I'm so fucking manly I can conceal my pain and go on like nothing's happened.
I slowly glided to the toilet which was godforgivingly nearby and cleaned my wounds. I swear the palm hurt like nothing I've ever felt before!
I gingerly skated on, hoping to find someone with some basic first aid supplies. My best bet appeared within seconds: a group of young-ish mothers and their preschool kids.
So I got baby wipes and some plasters—some REALLY cute plasters:
Then I tried in vain to get antiseptic cream from people. So I skated over to Downtown East since it was the sure place where I can get antiseptic cream. I dunno, but I just have this obsession with antiseptic cream. For whatever wounds, I just think that it's terribly important to apply antiseptic.
It was quite fun skating to Downtown East. Despite my wounds, I still was able to explore more of Pasir Ris Park. I finally saw the GallopStable thingy, with all the horses and stuff. The poor horses looked terribly out-of-place there though. It didn't help that they didn't respond when I said 'Hi!' to them. I'm just having to wonder, why the long face?
HAHA!.. Yeah, I know, overused horse joke.
I got my antiseptic cream from Watson's and chatted a bit with the cashier, recounting my fall and then gliding off precariously. Just before I entered Watson's though, this security guy got all stern on me and told me that I was not allowed to skate on the premises. Like whatever. I was there, I got my antiseptic, I was gone.

The Weekend Hiatus: The Sleepless Night
The same night of that unfortunate accident, I went over to the park to meet Idil and friend, Mas.
It was so bloody cute how both Idil and I buttoned up our polo tees. And it was kinda great making a new acquaintance.
You see, the greatest thing about meeting new people is that the other party is responsive. I mean, how many times have you tried to make conversation only to find yourself stuck dead in the centre of a deep and awkward pool of silence?
We just played cards, smoke, chill and talk.
And when I said chill, I literally meant chill. It was so bloody chilly with the cold night breeze going on non-stop. It became apparent that the berms and tee combo did not work at all. Almost frozen to death, with all the teeth-chattering and shivering.
Oh yes, and I'm apparently a rather cute guy. We were sitting on the breakwaters when I needed to pee urgently. We still STROLLED over to the toilet. But halfway there, I really couldn't take it any longer, so I pee-ed on the nearest tree lor.
“Nabeh! Never see people pee in public before izzit?!” so to quote.
Kidding only lah! When I couldn't hold it in any longer, I just exclaimed that I had to go there and then and ran to the toilet. Apparently, the running is the cutest part. I, for the record, do not run, so my run probably looks funny. And to top it off, I had to run while clenching a full bladder. So you get exactly how cute I was.
But it was a good night nevertheless. Good but sleepless though.
I like the fact that I can finally stay up late into the night without feeling bad for myself. So I stayed awake for most of the night camwhoring.
Yeah, I know, so not me for such a long time already. But I decided to conscientiously fill the camera with photos.

The Weekend Hiatus: The Kid And His Kite And His Stick
So before I knew it, it was daybreak.
I looked out of the window and wished that the view were like that every day.
So peaceful and serene. I was really enjoying myself at the chalet. Away from home, away from the Internet. It was a true escape for the boring and dreary life at home.
In the afternoon, I needed to go out to town though. That would be breaking the escape-from-city plan, wouldn't it?
I was early in getting ready, so ended up bringing Chuan Jie to play at the park and beach.
How can you not feel warm and fuzzy inside when you see these photos? So fun and innocent, isn't it?
